It’s been called one of the biggest scandals affecting the British press in living memory, and threatens global media mogul Rupert Murdoch’s reputation. His UK tabloid News of the World hacked into the mobile phone of a murdered school girl while police were still looking for her, a tactic that might have been common practice at the newspaper for years.
And after a week of daily scandalous revelations, people are now starting to ask questions over the prime ministers’ judgement when he hired – and later fired – a former News of the World editor as his press secretary.
