The 15th of October was International Repair Day, which highlighted the number of fixable items we tend to simply throw away. In the EU alone, 35 million tons of goods that might be repairable go in the bin every year, resulting in more than 261 million tons of greenhouse gas emissions. But the tide might be slowly turning. In recent years, thousands of repair cafés have been popping up all over the world. This is my report for Deutsche Welle’s Inside Europe from my local repair café near Manchester.
